History
Central Frontenac was created in 1998 through the amalgamation of the Townships of Hinchinbrooke, Kennebec, Olden and Oso. Central Frontenac is a township located in eastern Ontario, Canada in the County of Frontenac. Central Frontenac, along with South Frontenac, North Frontenac and the Frontenac Islands, make up the County of Frontenac.
The Township of Central Frontenac was incorporated on January 1, 1998 and is made up of four (4) former Townships including Kennebec, Olden, Oso and Hinchinbrooke. The Municipal office for these amalgamated Townships is located in Sharbot Lake, ON. Sharbot Lake is located approximately 75 kilometres north of Kingston and 123 kilometres west of Ottawa with most of the village just south of the intersections of Highway 7 and Road 38. Also located in the municipality are the hamlets of Parham, Mountain Grove and Arden. In addition, there are the predominately residential cross road communities of Tichborne, Piccadilly, Godfrey, Henderson, Elm Tree and Crow Lake.

Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington is honouring a fallen soldier from the First World War for Remembrance Day. Private Edward Nelson Badour of Sharbot Lake, Ontario, was killed November 17, 1917 and has no known grave.
Part of the ongoing Soldier of the Great War project that began last year, the Agency tells the story of the life and death of the Sharbot Lake soldier who fought with the 20th Battalion and was wounded, captured and later died of his wounds at the Battle of Passchendaele.
“We’re a community agency that has been helping children and families for more than 121 years,” said John Suart, Manager, Community Relations. “Soldiers like Private Badour deserve to be remembered on Remembrance Day. It was a story that was worth telling and we’re proud to have told it in Soldier of the Great War.”
The Agency worked with local historian Al Lloyd and the Sharbot Lake Legion to find the complete story of Badour, including his original enlistment papers, pictures of his family and more. They even tracked down two nephews of Badour in Sharbot Lake, o

Sharbot Lake is a suburban community and unincorporated area in the municipality of Central Frontenac, Frontenac County in EasternOntario, Canada.[1] Named after the Sharbot family, who were local residents, it appeared in Lovell's Gazetteer in 1874.[3] It is part of the Land O'Lakes Tourist Region and is located on the eponymous Sharbot Lake.
Recreation
The community is surrounded by many lakes that are used for outdoor recreation. The nearby Sharbot Lake Provincial Park has hiking trails, camp sites, and a boat launch into Sharbot Lake.[4]
Local services
Sharbot Lake has tourist-oriented shops and accommodations. Also in the village are a public beach and park, a pharmacy, grocery, bank, medical clinic, law office, real estate services, and public library (part of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library system). The local post office services the village with lock boxes, and rural routes (RR2 Sharbot Lake, RR1 Clarendon Station and RR1 Ompah).
