Simon Anthony Lee BrettOBEFRSL (born 28 October 1945 in Worcester Park, Surrey, England) is a British author of detective fiction, a playwright, and a producer-writer for television and radio. As an author, he is best known for his mystery series featuring Charles Paris, Mrs Pargeter, Fethering, and Blotto & Twinks. His radio credits have included The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue and Just a Minute.
Personal life
The son of chartered surveyor John Brett and Margaret (née Lee), a teacher,[1][2] he had 2 siblings - Penelope Clark and Michael Brett (author of How to Read Financial Pages). He was educated at Dulwich College and Wadham College, Oxford, where he gained a first-class honours degree in English. He is married with three children and lives in Arundel, West Sussex, England.
Brett was the president of the Detection Club from 2000 to 2015. He was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2016 New Year Honours for services to literature.[3] A bizarre discovery right under Mrs Pargeter's patio turns a quiet and sunny June morning into a thrilling hunt for answers in this new instalment of the light-hearted and entertaining Mrs Pargeter mystery series. Brett Simon (born November 28, 1973, in Palo Alto, California) is an American commercial, music video and film director. Simon graduated from Princeton Universitysumma cum laude in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Literature and Creative Writing, and later graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2002 with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Art Practice.[1] He is a PhD candidate in Film Studies at UC Berkeley.[1] In 2001, he wrote, directed, edited and produced the short filmCounterfeit Film, which showed at the Telluride Film Festival, South by Southwest and RESFest and has been archived at the Pacific Film Archive at UC Berkeley, as well as winning numerous awards.[1][2] In 2005, he wrote, directed, edited and produced the short film The Sailor's Girl, which screened at the Sundance Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival.
