Carlos Alberto Sánchez (born 1974), better known in the entertainment world as Charlie Zaa, is a Colombian singer who has gained fame across Latin America and among Hispanics in the United States. Zaa is the son of Alberto Sánchez, who is a famous singer in Colombia and who also uses the last name Zaa as an artistic last name. Charlie Zaa has actually noted in public that his biggest musical influences were his father, Julio Jaramillo and Olimpo Cardenas. Zaa has also publicly disclosed his belief in the Christian religion.

Zaa was a singer with two famous Colombian salsa orchestras: "Grupo Niche" and "Guayacán". When he launched his career as a solo artist, he decided to switch to the bolero rhythm. This career decision was made during the middle 1990s, and Zaa became an instant teen idol in Latin America. With his hit debut album Sentimientos, Zaa established himself as a force on the Latin music scene, appealing to both young and older fans with his energetic arrangements of traditional popular music. Der Sohn des kolumbianischen Sängers Luis Humberto Sánchez kam eher durch Zufall zu seiner musikalischen Laufbahn. Im Alter von 6 Jahren hatte er damit begonnen, seinen Vater zu imitieren. Als sein Vater kurz vor einem Auftritt krank wurde, sprang der erst zwölfjährige Carlos Alberto ein und nahm an seiner Stelle den Auftritt wahr. Das begeisterte Publikum feierte den talentierten Nachwuchssänger, dessen weitere Laufbahn somit vorgezeichnet war. Zunächst schloss er sich den Gruppen Grupo Niche und Guayacán an, bevor er seine Solokarriere startete und 1996 sein erstes AlbumSentimientos herausbrachte.

Seine Alben Sentimientos, Un Segundo Sentimiento, De Bohemia und Mi Mejor Regalo schafften es jeweils an die Spitze der Billboard Tropical Album-Charts.^[1]
