Ghana's Wanlov the Kubolor signs to Walboomers Music
According to the company, which confirmed the development on 15 August, the artist will use this opportunity to focus on new music projects and develop his creativity.
Founded in 1996, Walboomers Music quickly made a name for itself by promoting underrepresented genres like R&B, hip hop and Latin/Caribbean music, with early hits including Jamaican singer Sean Paul’s ‘Gimme The Light’. Known for its artist development and innovation, the label expanded into music publishing and management in 2007.
“Following his recent success in composing and producing a track selected for a high-profile Super Bowl commercial, Wanlov the Kubolor is set to continue his creative streak,” Walboomers said.
Born Emmanuel Owusu-Bonsu, Wanlov the Kubolor, is widely praised for his bold messages and eclectic fusions of Afrobeats, hiplife, and traditional music. He is behind solo albums including Green Card (2007), Yellow Card – Stomach Direction (2010), Brown Card – African Gypsy (2012) and Orange Card: Fruitopian Raps (2017).

Wanlov The Kubolor and the spirit of forward thinking
Wanlov the Kubolor is many things; singer, songwriter, producer, filmmaker, music video director, public intellectual, social commentator, genius, maverick and painfully under appreciated.

In an exploitative cultural climate that rewards individual commercial success and disregards collective growth and purposeful development, people like Wanlov are rare. By defining his own metrics for success, he takes responsibility for his happiness and directs his effort into ventures that he feels will not only reward him, but also benefit or improve the lives of those
