Biography.
After an extensive world tour, the Modigliani Quartet returned in 2012 with Intuition, an opus dedicated to the early works of Mozart, Schubert, and Arriaga.
The Modigliani was founded by friends in Paris in 2003.

Leonidas Kavakos, the violinist, and Yuja Wang, the pianist, are starry soloists. (The pianist is starrier than the violinist, granted.) But they occasionally team up, in recital. They are following the footsteps of Rubinstein and Szeryng, Horowitz and Milstein, Oistrakh and Richter, and other pairs we could name.

You may have noticed my inconsistency. I sometimes put the pianist first, sometimes the violinist. Why? It is mainly a feeling or impulse, I think. Interesting as it is, I should not let the question detain us.

Kavakos and Wang came once more to Carnegie Hall. I reviewed their recital on The New Criterion’s website. But I would like to say a word about their program, here. It began with Bach—the Violin Sonata No. 3 in E major—and continued with two Bach-besotted composers: Busoni and Shostakovich. The Busoni was the Violin Sonata No. 2 in E minor, a strange work. Lynn Bauscher brings to our team a diverse background in music and arts administration. While completing her bachelor’s degree in music performance (oboe) at Portland State University, Lynn discovered her love for arts administration while organizing student chamber music concerts and managing the PSU Orchestra. As she went on to pursue a master’s degree in Arts Administration and Cultural Management at Colorado State University, Lynn interned at Friends of Chamber Music where she fell in love with the organization, artists, and patrons. Following her academic pursuits, Lynn transitioned into the role of Sales Manager at an events venue company in Portland. However, her heart remained with Friends of Chamber Music, and she recently embraced the chance to rejoin the FOCM family, where her passion truly lies.

In her free time, Lynn enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, cooking, and going on adventures with her Miniature Schnauzer, Finn.

The Paris based Quatuor Modigliani was celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2023.

It is a regular guest at the world’s top venues and finest String Quartet and Chamber Music series. In 2017 it was a special honor for the quartet to be the first string quartet ever performing in the big hall of the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. In 2020, the quartet became artistic director of the string quartet festival “Vibre! Quatuors à Bordeaux” as well as the renowned “The Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition”; also, the quartet is the founder and artistic director of the Saint-Paul-de-Vence Festival. Since autumn 2023 they have been teaching the first String Quartet class at the École Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot.

The Quatuor Modigliani has been recording for the Mirare label since 2008 and has released 13 award winning CDs since. In January 2024, the quartet’s latest album with string quartets by Grieg and Smetana was published and received enthusiastically by the international press: “The French Quatuor Modigliani b
