In this episode we talk to Kimié Miner and Anuhea Jenkins about their body image issues growing up and how social media has factored into that, now that we are adults. We talk through what we learned from Dr. Fardouly, including how we felt guilty and that we could do a better job of showing a good example. Four listeners shared their stories and experiences with us - covering everything from fat shaming to breast cancer to motherhood. Anuhea and Kimié were candid, genuine, and share insights that I’m sure will help you to feel less alone in your own body image struggles. Mahalo for listening and joining the conversation.

ANUHEA BIO:
Rylee Anuheakeʻalaokalokelani Jenkins was born and raised in Makawao on the island of Maui. The eldest daughter of a P.E. Teacher and a hairdresser, Anuhea was actually immersed in sports more than music growing up, and it wasn’t until middle school that she found her passion for performing arts. She began boarding at the prestigious Hawaiian school Kamehameha Schools from grade 7, and began acting in school plays and musical. She found a passion for video production and received multiple college scholarships for Film School at Chapman University in Orange County, CA. A self taught guitar player, she learned of her passion for songwriting after her first big heartbreak.. and after a soul searching backpacking odyssey in Australia, she realized that Film School wasn’t for her. Anuhea decided to pursue her newfound passion for MUSI

Rylee Anuheake'alaokalokelani Jenkins (Anuhea) was born in 1985 on the island of Maui. Music has been in Anuhea's family for generations, so it was inevitable that her seeded passions would reflect the same. Anuhea's father is from the North Shore of Oahu in the surfing culture of Haleiwa. His younger sister, Nalani is part of the award winning contemporary Hawaiian music trio, Na Leo Pilimehana. Anuhea's mother, an Oregon native, comes from a musical family as well… her father is a jazz and blues guitarist.

A self-taught guitarist and song writer, Anuhea began showcasing her talents while boarding at Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu. ''I started writing songs… I was discovering my talent and passion while discovering how to deal with emotions every teenager has to go through." Anuhea excelled in the spotlight. She was the head anchor for the daily campus-wide news, hosted a variety of TV shows for OCI6, and acted in school musicals.

After attending film school in Orange County for a year, Anuhea realized music was more her calling. S
