What's the point of it all?

No real explanation of how he affords all the travelling (does he even have a job?), no attempt to embrace any of the practises that offer him help, and a truly banal revelation that made me question seriously if the previous 90 minutes were worth it. Oh, and don't get me started on the oh-so-obvious guilt issues that command his life which he seems to be utterly oblivious to - or at least loathe to do anything about. Very little makes sense, and with massive coincidences (like his girlfriend's name) and scenes that smack of a set-up the overall feeling one gets from this is apathy, on every level. A semblance of a narrative arc would have been nice, but the story never gets out of second gear with the landscape becoming far more interesting than anything the protagonist does or says. I gave it a 5 because there's some evidence of competency in filmmaking, but with very little to engage with for the audience I can't recommend it.

Jonas Elrod is a southern writer and director who grew up in Georgia with a deep appreciation for story as a means for change. He fell in love with stories told on porches late at night of fallen heroes, misfit love and spiritual redemption. His appreciation for personal truth and deeper meaning has been a compass for his fiction and non-fiction work.

Elrod began his career in film working with the award-winning production company Rockhard Films (Nike, Jay-Z, ESPN). After several years working production in the commercial and music video industry, he then went into directing. He has directed content and commercial work for clients such as Converse, Smirnoff and projects for Spike Lee.

His first documentary feature Wake Up, premiered at South by Southwest Film Festival. Wake Up follows Elrod's spiritual journey seeking answers to an unexplainable life event. Overnight, he began having a wide range of spontaneous metaphysical experiences: seeing spirits, hearing voices and having visions. After undergoing a series of medical tests (MRI, psychological evaluation, etc) and rec
