As the founding member and leader of the Grammy Award winning American rock band Wilco, and before that the cofounder of the alt‐country band Uncle Tupelo, Jeff Tweedy is one of contemporary music’s most accomplished songwriters, musicians, and performers.

Jeff has released two solo albums, written original songs for eleven Wilco albums, and is the author of The New York Times’ Bestseller, Let’s Go (So We Can Get Back): A Memoir of Recording and Discording with Wilco, etc. 2020 sees the release of Jeff’s third solo album, Love Is The King, and second book, How To Write One Song.

He lives in Chicago with his family.

Jeffrey Scot Tweedy (born August 25, 1967) is an American musician, singer songwriter, author, and record producer best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the band Wilco. Tweedy, originally from Belleville, Illinois, began his music career in high school with his band The Plebes along with Jay Farrar, also in the band. It became the alternative country band Uncle Tupelo.

After Uncle Tupelo broke up Tweedy formed Wilco which found critical and commercial success, most notably with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and A Ghost Is Born. The latter received a Grammy for Best Alternative Album in 2005.

During his career Tweedy has released 20 studio albums including four with Uncle Tupelo, twelve with Wilco, one with his son Spencer, a solo acoustic album, three solo studio albums, along with numerous collaborations with other musicians, most notably Mermaid Avenue with Billy Bragg.[1][2]

In retrospect, it shouldn't surprise me that Jeff Tweedy is a grood writer (that's great, with reservations for ya). I've been a fan of Wilco for some time now. Rather, I've been several different Wilco fans. Near the end of the book Tweedy talks about how different fans look for different things in the band. There are the ones who only like a certain album. That's the type of fan I was for a while. I loved Summerteeth and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. But then I kind of fell off the wagon, thinking that their newer sound wasn't as exciting.

But then several years ago, a wiser older me decided to listen to newer Wilco and I fell in love with them all over again. Yes, their newer stuff isn't as knob-twiddly, but I actually like it even more than their early breakout albums. Now I've become the fan that he describes in his book as ones who kind of expect change, and is along for the ride no matter what they do. Part of what's exciting about the band is how they continue writing deeper
