Rémy Martin

Introduction

Rémy Martin

Three centuries of exceptional products

The story of Rémy Martin is that of the pursuit of a single ambition – to capture the very essence of cognac. Since 1724, the House of Rémy Martin has been led by men and women of great talent, who have successfully turned a small area of France into the stronghold of one of the finest cognacs in the world: Cognac Fine Champagne, an iconic blend of eaux-de-vie from the vineyards of Grande and Petite Champagne.

Rémy Martin only uses fruit from the most revered vineyards, Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, whose terroir provide ideal conditions to ripen the grapes to perfection. Once distilled, our eaux-de-vie boast a rich and harmonious palette of aromas. More than any others, they are particularly suited to ageing. They form the heart of the Rémy Martin cognac collection, which has been perfected for more than three centuries.

Still a visionary today, the House of Rémy Martin has shaped a rich heritage focused on the future.

“What defines Rémy is its emblem – the centaur,” says Augustin Depardon, Rémy Martin’s global executive director, referring to the ancient Greek symbol – half man, half horse – that has graced the label of this famous Cognac since 1870. “It’s a brand with its feet firmly on the ground and its head in the sky. We’re one of the only major houses to have been founded by a winegrower [and] we’re very proud of our roots.”

Brand forefather Rémy Martin began selling Cognac under his own name in 1724, and today the house is snapping at the heels of Martell, having broken through the two-million-case barrier in 2016. Above them in volume stands only Hennessy, with sales of between 6m and 7m cases.

Rémy Martin owns just a few hundred hectares of its own vineyards, so it relies on the Alliance Fine Champagne, a cooperative of more than 900 gro
