Author: Albert Lee (1852–1935)

Biography: Albert Lee was born on 28 September 1852 in Bristol, the son of iron merchant Thomas Lee. He attended schools in Bristol, Westminister, and the United States and entered the Congregational ministry. He held posts in Darwen, Leeds, and Windsor. At the same time he took a wide interest in literary, historical, and scientific subjects which led to a number of publications including historical fiction. For forty years, he was the recorder of the King's Archives at Windsor where he became the personal friend of King George V and earned the nickname as the "man who kept the king's secrets." He married twice. He died on 11 June 1935 in Windsor.
